Some of best known and well loved companies in the world today were founded on borrowed money, shoestring budgets and bootstrapped in university dorms and garages. Hewlett Packard was started in a garage in Palo Alto and is considered the birthplace of Silicon Valley itself. Apple and Google were stared in garages. Dell Computers was started by Michael Dell in the dormitory of the University of Texas in 1984. Mark Zuckerberg famously coded Facebook in a dorm room at Harvard in 2004. Amazon’s startup capital was funded by Bezo’s parents. And there are thousands of internet based companies you’ve never heard of doing 7 figures in annual revenue that started with zero capital.
